Time Management
I am a retired Army Officer, and no matter what jobs you have had
in your lifetime it is very likely that the demands on your time was not even close to what I or any army officer is required
to do in order to stay afloat. I can remember one particular job I had while serving as a staff office on the Eight
U. S. Army Korea … I had seven-teen different projects that I had to keep on track and up to the minute. And
if you have ever been in the army and worked on the General’s Staff, or know anyone who has, you will know that "Excuses
for non-performance" is something that is never excepted … even if someone in your family dies.
There was but one solution … figure it out … get
the job done … or look for a civilian job! It was as simple as that. So what did I do … I developed
a simple plan … I went into the supply room and got seventeen different folders … I named every folder and I
assigned a priority based on the month and day that they must be submitted to my boss for signature … and I backed
back by 3 days.
I worked on all 17 projects based
on this the suspenses assigned. I tried to always be prepared to submit them a few days early as sometimes suspenses
change and they are never pushed back. I have a simple motto … Be Prepared!
