Several years ago I purchased an old junk house. I began restoring that house and quickly realized that

Dear Friend, The first question you may want to ask is ... "Why would anyone want to live pass 100 years old?
Well, your question might have some merit in certain circumstances but remember I said, "A healthy and Productive Life"
beyond 100 years. Several years ago I personally experienced or should I say "enjoyed"
a life threatening illness. I say this because that situation brought many thing into prospective for me.
Not only did it that illness surprise me but it angered me as well. My sudden illness, (through it was probably not
sudden at all), was a shock to me because I through I had been living a healthy lifestyle. I had a routine exercise
schedule, I eat healthy foods for the most part and I looked and felt ... "like a million bucks!" So what
went wrong!
Well, for
one thing, prior to that situation I relied on my doctor to keep me advised about my health. You know, when I should
do this test, when I should do that test and when did I do my last annual whatever! Don't get me wrong!
Doctors have a great place in life ... but YOU and only you are responsible for your health. If you were a chicken would
you take advice from a fox!
And weather
you believe it or not, doctors are for the most part ... in the sickness business ... not the wellness business. They
respond well when you walk into their office and tell them that you are sick, but if you are well and you ask them what should
you be doing to increase your chances of staying well, ... you will have thrown most doctors for a loop. If they provide
any answers to your question at all it will probable be, "keep doing what ever you are doing now". When in
fact a better answer may be ... "although you are doing well, you may consider adding a little more vitamin D to your
diet". Or perhaps, you might consider cleaning up the air in your home and office or make sure that you are drinking
enough good healthy water. Or whatever, ... but not the lazy ... "keep doing what ever you are doing now",
there is always room for improvements. The next time you talk with your doctor tell him/her that you want to live a
healthy life pass 100. Tell him/her that you want answers that support your goals.
But as I said, doctors are not in the wellness business, they are in the
sickness business. And based on the average life span expectancy of doctors, it would seem that you would be better
off listening to your neighbor rather than your doctor when it pertains to your health. I should also say that more
and more doctors are becoming wellness solutions providers and if you decided to switch to a wellness health care provider
you can find one, as they are becoming more and more available ... they want to live also!
The average black man in America lives to be about 68 to 69 years, the
average white man in America lives to be about 77 to 78 years old. The average doctor in America lives to be about 58
years old. From whom are you listening! What ever happened to that age old adage, "An Once Of Prevention!
Don't blame your doctor ... he/she has to make a living also.
It would almost seem that one may be better off by listening to his/her neighbor than his/her doctor.
Of course I am not telling you that you should not listen to your doctor; however, I am telling you that you need to be very
much involve in your health and baring any immediate emergency situations, you had better take charge of your personal health
and the health of those in your charge, ie., your children, beginning today. Don't just rely on what your doctor.
Listen to your body and your feelings also. What I am telling you is this: If you want to live a long, healthy and productive
live, you must become very pro-active when it comes to your health.
As of this writing I have two grand daughters. One just turned "sweet 16" and one is 3.
And I have decided that I want to dance at both of their weddings. In order for me to do that I will not only have to
live about 25 to 30 more years but I am going to have to be healthy and active as well. And I dam sure don't need any
more health related surprises.
Another reason
why my health situation angered me was because I have always seen myself as one of those guys who would live a lone and healthy
life. I have often told my wife that if after I am pass 103 or more and I walk to the door with a glazed over look in
my eyes, don't follow me because I would probably not be coming back. But until I was at least 100 years old would
she need to be concerned about that glazed over look.
At any rate, after I exprianced those personal health issues, I decided that I should take as much control
of my own health as was reasonable possible. The first thing I decided to do was to do some research on longevity
to try and learn if there really was anything that I could personally do to increase my chances of living a healthy life beyond
100 years.
Considering the fact that I
am going to have to live much longer than the average American I decided that I would need to do something very different
from what the average American does. I have already decided that just listening to and relying my doctor was not a viable
solution. I also decided that ... business as usual was not going to get the job done. Soooo, what was I to do
.......
Baring anything else that even came
close to my needs, I decided to do the apparently only reasonable thing available to me .... undertake a study of those who
are already expert at living longer than the rest of the world. I decided to conduct a study of those cultures
that routinely live pass 80, 90 and 100 years old ... and for many even longer.
During the early stages of my research I came across an article that ran
in the January 1973 edition of National Geographic. The title of the article was, "Search For The Oldest People".
This article identified several cultures where its people routinely lived to be 90, 100 and even longer.
The cultures identified were were the Abkhasians of Georgia,
the Hunzas of Pakistan, the Vilcabambans of Ecuadoar, the Bamas of China, the Azerbaijans, the Tibetans, the Armenians, the
Titicacas of Peru and of course the longest living humans of them all, the Okinawans of Japan. Again they are:
1. The Abkhasians from Georgia, (high
in the mountains) 2. The Hunzas of Pakistan,
(high in the mountains) 3. The Vilcabambans
of Ecuador, (high in the mountains) 4. The
bamas of China, (high in the mountains) 5.
The Azerbaijans, (high in the mountains) 6.
The Tibetans, (high in the mountains) 7.
The Armenians, (high in the mountains) 8.
The Titicacas, (high in the mountains) 9.
And the longest living people on earth, ... the Okinawans of Japan, who live at sea level.
So what does these people have in common other than the fact that they,
as a rule liver longer than the rest of the world? The answer is not as complicated as one would think. First,
except for the Okinawans, they all live high in the mountains areas. The astute reader must then conclude that it must
have at least something to do with the fact they live in high elevations ... (clean air, lots of time spent outside working,
(sunshine), nutritional foods, and pure and uncontaminated water).
But ... can there also be more! Lets revisit their lifestyles. We know that
all of these culture are an outdoor culture who routinely get several hours of sunshine daily. Ironically, just recently,
doctors have been testing more Americans for Vitamin D deficiencies. For the first time in my life my doctor just recently
tested me for a Vitamin D deficiency. Isn't that ironic!
At any rate, after having learn about these long living cultures, one must ask, "What are they doing
that I am not"? Or perhaps, other than moving to where they live, "what can I do to increase my chances of
living a long and healthy life, perhaps pass 100?
The first thing I decided to do was to try and find out what did these cultures have in common! Well,
except for the Okinawans, the answer is obvious. At least one of the elements in question stands out like a sore thumb, they
all lived high in the mountains. As an astute reader you therefore must conclude that living at higher elevations must
at least be one of the factors of longevity. They live closer to the sun. The air that they breathe is much cleaner
and the water that they drink in full of minerals and ... it is not treated with man made and man added chemicals.
Recent research has proven UVB exposure at higher altitudes
stimulates a grater production of vitamin D as well as an increase in the rate of sunburn. One study suggested that
an average completion burns in six minutes at 11,000 feet compared to 25 minutes at sea level in a temperate climate.
What this appears to mean is that at high solar elevations the ratio favors Vitamin D formation. In other words, at
lower solar altitudes, it may be nearly impossible to form Vitamin D without getting sun burn.
Research has proven that UVB exposure at higher altitudes stimulates
not only a grater production of vitamin D, (today's scientist are finally beginning to understand the importance of of Vitamin
D), but also increases the rate of sunburn compared to sea level exposure.
NOTE: The largest number of skin cancers in America occurs in areas north of the
sun belt! Interesting!
Another
interesting note! For as many years of visiting my doctor as I can remember, he for the first time on my last
visit told me that he wanted to check my Vitamin D level.
Well I think you can now began to question and appreciate is the vital need for ample vitamin D.
This would also imply that the amount that is recommended by the FDA may be grossly short of it's mark. But must also
began to question the air you breath and the water you drink. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE OKINAWANS
But
what about the Okinawans, they live at sea level, so why are they able to live so long, (they are among the longest living
people in the known world)? How can that be explained? Of course we have to assume that vitamin D, if it
is a factor, it must not be the only factor related to longer living.
We decided to continue our research and return to the high mountain cultures. We
again looked at the water. What we found is that in higher elevations more than any place else the water contains very
high amounts of calcium. Interesting, considering the fact that Calcium has the chemical flexibility needed to be the
bodies most biologically active mineral nutrient. But this seemed to simple, it had to be more than high, very high
daily doses of Vitamin D and Calcium. So we decided to keep digging. We had to be sure. These people, these
high mountain people, lived much longer than the rest of the world, except for the Okinawans, (we will talk even more about
the Okinawans later).
Finally, we began
to develop our conclusion. The research was clear. There were several things that were clean common in all of these
long living cultures. They all consumed very large amounts of Vitamin D, Calcium, the Fresh AIR that they consumed
daily and the fresh clean WATER that they consumed daily, and of course the fact that in order for them to survive that they
had to work the fields and the animals ... a daily dose of exercise.
The EPA has made it clear that the Air We Breathe and the Water We Drink are major factors

Continued
research revealed an unexpected amount of support for our conclusions. However sad, it appears that the reason
this information, especially regarding Vitamin D, Calcium and nutritional supplements in general is not more available may
be because large drug companies have not been able to patent them in a drug form that they can place a large price tag on.
And history is clear, ... if it does not
or cannot make large amounts of money for the powers that be, (drug companies), it will not likely be indossed. In fact

Calcium from our food and water intake as well as sunshine, is virtually free to all. And even as an
Isotonix nutritional supplement, (iso means 'the same' and tonic means 'pressure or tone' form, it is relatively inexpensive.
As we dug deeper, what became abundantly
clear was the fact that the soil that these mountain cultures used for growing crops has far more nutriants than in other
areas, however, no it appeared that the game winners in all cases was the fact that these people consumed large doses of Calcium

large amounts of Calcium as well, however, their calcium came from the coral reefs. Coral calcium as it
called and felt by many scientist to be the most potent calcium in the world.

During 25 years of study, researchers have that Okinawans
have healthier arteries ... lower risk for hormone dependent malignancies. Malignancies such as breast and prostate
cancer ... stronger bones ... sharper minds ... lean, fit bodies ... and excellent emotional health.
The Okinawan diet consist of mainly of high-carbohydrate,
low-calorie, plant-based foods, which by the way is the same diet deemed optimal for long-term health by more than 2000 scientific
studies. And of course US government scientist have been urging Americans to consume at least five daily servings of
fruits and vegetables.
Here is how
scientist have scientist have adopted the Okinawan diet for Americans ...
<> Eat until you are 80% full. Okinawans say, hara bachi bu: "Eat until you are eights
part full" (out of 10).
<> Eat
nine to 17 servings of vegetables and fruits daily - A diet rich in fruits and vegetables decreases your risk for heart disease,
cancer, stroke, high blood pressure and obesity. Who in the hell has time to eat 17 servings per day!
<> Eat seven to 13 servings of whole-grain foods daily
- whole grains are rich in nutrients, antioxidants and fiber, which decrease your risk for many illnesses, including heart
disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer. Who in the hell has time to eat 13 servings per day!
<> Eat two to four servings of Calcium daily. Calcium
fights osteoporosis and is believed to help prevent colon cancer, high blood pressure and premenstrual syndrome.
<> Eat two to four servings of flavonoid-rich foods
daily. According to research, blood levels of flavonoids - beneficial compounds founds in all plants-are up to 50 times higher
in Okinawans than in white Americans.

How much is enough ... drink enough so that your urine is clear.
So what is the bottom-line! Apparently the bottom-line remains the same. You should consume large
amounts of Calcium, Vitamin D, (Vitamin D is essential in helping Calcium disolved in your body), and ample amounts
of Omega-3's as well as good clear water and you should inhale pollution free air. All combined, they are all essential
to a long and long and healthy life.
So
what is large amounts of Calcium and Vitamin D? The only way for me to explain this to just say that one quart of Hunzas
water in Pakistan contains about 17,000 milligrams of Calcium. This is by the way, about 42 times the RDA and they drink
several quarts per day.
And
the Hunzas, along with the other eight or nine cultures mentioned earlier, is basically disease free. There is no cancer,
heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's, arthritis, and probably no aids, (although probably not yet studied).
What also becomes clear is this: All of these cultures
consumes far more Calcium and vitamin D than is recommended by the FDA. Do you think that the FDA knows this, you bet
they do. Perhaps there is some method to their madness.
WHAT ABOUT EXERCISE!
OK
what about exercise? As I said earlier, all of these culture are sun lovers. Given the fact that that do not have

to assume that they were working the fields or the animals, in both cases plenty of exercise was the order of the day.
Ample exercise is probably a given.
OK,
a final question that you may want to ask is why would I go through all this research ... the answer is simple. I have
a very young family and I want to dance at both of my grand daughters weddings and the youngest just turned three as of this
writing.
Now lets conduct a review:
There are about eight or nine cultures that live
much longer than the rest of the world. Except for the Okinawans they all live in high mountain areas. They all,
including the Okinawans, consumes very high amounts of Calcium and Vitamin D. The air that they breath is generally
considered to be the cleanest air in the world. Their soil contains more minerals than any other soils.
There is one other thing that I failed to mention that may
be of importance. These cultures have few to no doctors at all. There are no prescription drugs to be found.
This is not intended to be a hit on tdoctors.
But
I should probably add that death from the use of prescription drugs in America is number four (4), on the list of causes of
death.
So, are you wondering if you are
going to have to move to Pakistan, Abkhasia or Georgia or perhaps Okinawa Japan in order to live a long and healthy life -
We think not and that's certainly not in our plans.
We believe that, (the following is our opinion and based on our research of the research), in order to increase
your chances of living a more healthy and much longer live than the average American you will need to begin doing the following
(not in any particular order):
1.
Exercise Is Important - A specific routine is not requied; however, you need to develop some kind of exercise routine and
... stick with it. This is just a fact of life or perhaps I should say, a fact of living. If you can's afford
to give yourself about 15 or 20 minutes of walking everyday, then so be it. But you must except the fact that your body
will respond accordingly.

The Air You Breathe - Air Pollution, according to the EPA is our #1 health problem. Those mountain cultures that we
